Miss Katy danced from a young age at a dance school in Wellingborough and at 16 attended Laine Theatre Arts, one of the top performing arts colleges in the country, for a 3 year course, graduating with a National Diploma in professional dance and her Associate teaching qualification in ISTD Modern and Tap. Miss Katy has had many great experiences since leaving college including travelling round the world dancing on a cruise ship, appearing in film, TV and touring with many shows abroad and here in the UK. Miss Katy has also lived in the Cayman Islands for 2 years and taught at a fantastic dance school over there. It has always been a dream for Miss Katy to open her own dance school believing that there was a great need for a professional and caring school this side of Northamptonshire that could offer a variety of styles with exams, shows and festivals. Hence ‘The Dance Factory’ was born in 2006 with only a few students. It is now strong with over 200 students! Miss Katy works at many primary schools in Northamptonshire and also Southfield School for girls teaching the gifted and talented students and helping them with their tour in the summer term. She taught the GCSE and A-level students in Contemporary and Jazz techniques before having her 2 gorgeous little boys! She is so proud of every student that has trained with her and misses every one of the girls and boys as they leave to go to university/work – although they often turn up at classes or come to help at the show!
Miss Ashley started her training in Cambridgeshire and then went on to become a pre-senior at Central School of Ballet studying Vaganova technique and contemporary dance. She was also a student with the London Junior Ballet before auditioning for full time dance schools at the age of 16. Miss Ashley then continued her training at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts in Surrey graduating with a National Diploma in professional dance and her Associate teaching qualification in ISTD Imperial Ballet and RAD Ballet. Since graduating from college she has been lucky enough to have performed in various shows and productions both on stage and on television. These include pantomimes, fashion shows and films. Alongside professional work Miss Ashley has taught for a variety of schools. She is experienced in show/festival choreography and has coached for graded and major examinations. Miss Ashley was very excited to join The Dance Factory in 2011 and has made such a difference to many of our students dancing journeys which is apparent from our wonderful RAD results.
